Packaging for a changing future.

We already have experience in introducing packaging designed for recycling and supply these solutions to our customers. They include flexible and rigid thermoforming films and tray lidding films. We also supply these films in printed versions. We develop our range in response to changing European Union requirements and help customers adapt their packaging to PPWR, taking product protection and food-contact safety into account.

PPWR and packaging development

The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) introduces requirements in stages, including packaging recyclability and recycled content in plastic packaging. The requirements and deadlines depend on the packaging type.

At Flexipak, we place a strong emphasis on introducing films and bags containing recycled raw materials, alongside solutions designed for recycling. These are two distinct development goals: recycled content does not automatically make the finished pack recyclable.

We select each option according to product and machine requirements and material documentation, taking food-contact rules into account. Ask us about introducing a suitable solution into your packaging process.

Vacuum bags

Vacuum bags allow food to be sealed after air has been removed from the pack. Product shape, puncture resistance and subsequent processing conditions are key selection factors. For bone-in meat, cooking, pasteurisation and sterilisation, we select a bag designed for the specific application.

In SKIN packaging, a transparent film closely follows the product and seals to the base, highlighting its shape and limiting movement inside the pack. Common applications include meat, fish and cheese. Film selection takes account of tray material, product height and machine settings.
